The rumours had suggested that HTC was getting ready to
move into the UMPC space. HTC has now unveiled the HTC Shift (codename
Shangri-La) UMPC. Not all the details are out yet but here is what we know so
far. The form factor features a 7-inch touch widescreen that slides and tilts
out to sit above the keyboard.
It will be powered by a VIA processor and Windows Vista Business. It will feature a 30GB hard drive, tri-band UMTS/HSDPA and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a biometric reader and a front-facing camera.
You can see an animation of the keyboard sliding out and the screen tilting up on the HTC home page. The HTC Shift is expected to be available in the third quarter and will be on display at the Microsoft booth at the CTIA Wireless show that runs from March 27 to March 29.
